About Manjunath Somashekar
A longtime engineer and entrepreneur, Manju uses technology and analytics to derive data-driven insights.
What about your background equipped you to work at a VC firm?
I am an entrepreneur at heart. I've been a part of start ups with successful exits, as well as my fair share of failures. I love technology, so using it to solve tough problems gives me a ton of satisfaction. One of my side projects involves evaluating crypto assets based on fundamentals. (I know that sounds crazy in the current hyped environment!) I feel there are similarities to how an early stage VC firm evaluates an opportunity to that of a crypto asset. I am excited to be bringing my engineering/technical, data, management and entrepreneurial skills together to accelerate an already "in motion" slow tectonic shift towards the application of data-driven intelligence and decision making to the VC landscape.
What are you most excited about in terms of working at Trinity?
I really enjoy the people here. All of them have been entrepreneurs or operators in their past lives, and there is ton to learn just by talking to each of them. The work is fantastic -- and we are just getting started. I appreciate the transparency and no nonsense work environment. It is pure problem solving without any of the unnecessary frills attached. This is incredible work that you don't get to do in your own startup once it grows to a certain stage. I'm excited that we are one of the first firms to use data-driven insights and decision making in this way. I can't wait to see the positive impact it will have on Trinity's business.
What do you do outside of work?
My little boy Saket keeps me busy during most of my non-working time. I love spending time him and my wife Suma. I also enjoying working on some interesting side projects when I can manage to carve out the time.
